HypnoBirthing® Stories

The birth was amazing and exactly how I wanted it. I was very quiet and kind of in a trance for most of it. I didn't tear or need any stitches at all. My husband was wonderful and is proclaiming the wonders of HypnoBirthing® to everyone he meets I don't think he can really believe I was that calm and quiet throughout the whole thing.. Even the midwife said she couldn't tell when I was having a ontraction so asked could I please signal to her to time the monitoring it was all so perfect Helen from Cambridgeshire

“HypnoBirthing gave us the birth experience we only could have dreamt about”.

My eleven pound daughter was born at home after only an hour in labour, I didn’t need any pain relief at all and I didn’t need any stitches either, it was a wonderful experience. HypnoBirthing® is simply amazing.

Sarah from Essex

The main thing that kept me calm was my HypnoBirthing® recording it really came into its own. My hospital notes record the whole labour as 50 minutes; I'm still amazed by it all and couldn't have wished for a better experience.

Mary from Leicestershire

Without a doubt HypnoBirthing® radically transformed my attitudes, expectations and therefore experience of birth. I like to think the fact that we had such an easy calm, short, drug free birth is at least partly why our little girl seems such a peaceful contended baby eating and sleeping like a trooper, and so quick to be comforted on the rare occasion she starts crying. I won't get
tired of thanking you!.

“We had our baby boy. The birth was at home and took around 7 hours, no pain relief. The HypnoBirthing® course really helped, mainly the breathing, the relaxing and ‘going with it’ attitude and also having seen all those videos of births, we knew everything that was happening was totally normal”.

Lisa from Hertfordshire

I had my daughter after only five hours of labour, giving birth totally naturally and without any pain relief, in an inflatable pool at home with my husband. I used my hypnobirthing techniques throughout the first stage of labour, and found it immensely helpful - not only for pain relief, but also in terms of feeling prepared for the birth and looking forward to the event with positive anticipation.

When my labour began in earnest I had the relaxation music playing, and found the balloon visualisation invaluable in giving me something to focus on. It was also lovely for my husband to have a defined role, and we both felt that we were really experiencing the labour together.

By the time I went into the second stage I was already in the pool, and despite my previous concerns that I would not know when this stage was beginning, it was immediately obvious from one contraction to the next that things had changed, and I could not help but to push. I didn't use the 'breathing down' technique at this stage, as my far more urgent primal
instincts took over!

I continued to use the hynpobirthing techniques after the birth, as I found the rainbow relaxation very useful in getting me off to sleep when my mind was full of thoughts and the excitement of having a new baby. I have also never found it easy to nap during the day, and this helped me to achieve a daytime rest  - even if I didn't go to sleep I felt relaxed and refreshed, and more ready to cope with the evening ahead.

I hope this is helpful for you, I 'd better get on, as a certain young lady is calling!

All the best, Chloe - Bath

It was amazing and COMPLETELY different from my first birth (not a HB birth).  I listened to the Affirmations every day.  When the surges started, I listened to the Rainbow Relaxation all the time, even en route to the hospital.  The breathing was fantastic - in 20, out 20, and up with the  surge.  All was very calm and I stayed at home for a long time. My husband used all the right language, and the Fear Release helped so much.  Things moved along quickly at the end,  I had only one sniff of gas and air and in 10 minutes my daughter Bonnie was born.  I did not have an episiotomy, thanks to perineal massage, and felt so much better afterward.

Just to let you know that our daughter Amelia arrived on Tuesday 11 October at 9.07pm after a 2hr 45min labour. She weighed 7lb 4oz. (She has already put on 5oz in the first week as she feeds so well!)

Your hypnobirthing course was invaluable in allowing me to keep calm throughout. The experience of being there to see her birth was just magical for us both and we enjoyed a relaxing time afterwards drinking tea and eating toast, bonding with the baby.

Your techniques for clearing away all the negative images of our previous birth were so effective that nearing the due date I ended up reassuring my husband that everything would be alright as opposed to him having to comfort me! The imagery replaced all the negative images of the previous birth and just visualizing this helped enormously.

Thank you so much, Liz & Kelvin - Salisbury

Hi Karen, Just to let you know we had Lola Rose Bradley last Monday. Once again, the HypnoBirthing really helped a lot. We practiced it all as instructed! Matt was fantastic and I can't imagine having done it without him, he counted breaths, mopped my head etc. I think my birthing was technically about 12 or 13 hours but I only really remember truly feeling it for the last hour when I reached 9cm. The midwives said I was fantastic and I'm not saying that to boast but to give credit where it's due - to that breathing and visualization!
I used a tens machine, spent some time in the birthing pool and gave birth on a birthing stool, with some minor stitches afterwards. The midwives also commented on how alert Lola was and she latched onto the breast straight away.  It was all a repeat of our first positive HypnoBirthing experience and I shall continue to recommend this to everyone I know. It works!

Just to let you know our good news; I had a little boy, at home, on the 2nd of July. I went in to labour at seven in the morning and got to five centimetres dilated, with minimum fuss by 1pm. The midwife then came and stayed with me until I gave birth in the pool at 5:30pm. Gabriel was 8lbs 14oz. and I pulled him out of the pool myself. He did not cry for forty minutes and I believe this was due to his lovely relaxed birthing experience.

David and I cannot thank you enough for your truly inspirational words of wisdom and advice. We had the birth that we wanted, without medical intervention and I tore only slighlty, but felt confident in refusing stitches. I only wish I had found you the first time around! Please be assured that I will recommend you to all pregnant women with the utmost confidence. I really believe that you gave me back my confidence and allowed me to believe in my bodies ability to give birth.

Yours kindly,

Joanne Tierney

Hi Dany,

I've been meaning to get in touch with you for ages just to thank you again for your hypnobirthing sessions.  They came in very useful a second round as we had a little boy, Reuben, six months ago.  I have to say, hypnobirthing really worked for me this time.  He was born at home and it was a really lovely experience, so different from the one I had with Hannah.  I was so much calmer this time and it was so nice to have him at home on my own bed (Dan's side!).

It all started on the Friday morning............ I'd been spotting since the Friday morning so mentioned it to the midwife who duly popped in.  She said she'd give me a quick examination as I was over by 7 days again, and was shocked when she found I was 5-6cm!  She left telling us to give her a ring if we got any regular surges.  We had a bit of lunch to while away the time and I was started having fairly regular surges but they didn't feel strong enough that I wanted the midwife back, I found them all comfortable to breath through and the CD helped keep me relaxed.  She came back later with another midwife and I was still happy to breath through them.I don't think she believed how far into labour I was and said that if I hadn't progressed when she examined me again she was going to think about breaking my waters.   That's when she found out I was 9cm so left my waters intact.  About an hour later I had a go with the gas and air (more for the fun of it as I'd enjoyed it so much with Hannah!).  She then encouraged me on the bed (up to this point I'd been happy being upright) and onto my back which I wasn't too thrilled about.  I overheard her saying to the other midwife that she couldn't understand why I wasn't pushing yet.  I didn't say anything but stayed in my own little world nudging my baby along and after about 10 mins out popped lovely Reuben weighing 9lbs!

So hooray for hypnobirthing and a massive thank you to you.

Vicki xx
